KINDERHAUS MUTTENZ
Developing Capabilities through Montessori
At the Kinderhaus (daycare center) we care for children in mixed-age groups from 2-years until children are ready to begin school. Additionally, we have a baby group for children as young as 3 months.
The Kinderhaus places a lot of value on creating an atmosphere where each child feels comfortable, has their needs taken seriously and where they can follow their urges to play and be active.
The Montessori Kinderhaus is open from 7am until 6pm Monday through Friday.
There is no annual holiday closure, however we are closed between Christmas and New Years.

OPPORTUNE ENVIRONMENT
At the Kinderhaus children find learning and play materials that foster their individual needs and correspond to their interests.
Not only do we provide Montessori learning materials, however we also have games and toys one would find in traditional day-care centers. We value giving children the opportunity to have diverse and interesting experience. Whether they play by themselves or in a group is their decision.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
Once a week we go to the forest. We discover nature and play outdoors. We take excursions together to the playground in Muttenz, visit the animal park or go to a local farm.
Closer to home there is a lot to discover in our large garden behind the Kita: sandboxes, slides and swings invite the children to spend time outside.
DISCOVERY AND LEARNING THROUGH GAMES
We offer an exciting daily routine anchored in set rhythms.
Not only do we provide Montessori learning materials, however we also have games and toys one would find in traditional day-care centers. We value giving children the opportunity to have diverse and interesting experiences.
The children can decide if they want to play by themselves or in a group. We lovingly accompany them and are always ready to offer support, whether they decide to play by themselves or in a group.
HEALTHY MEALS
Fresh, seasonal and well-balanced snacks and meals are important to us and, where possible, we use organic food (approximately 75%).
As requested, we can prepare lactose-free, gluten-free or vegan meals.
The children eat together at fixed meal times.
There is a morning snack at 9am, lunch at 11:30am and an afternoon snack at 4pm.
The babies are the exception. We follow their rhythms.
MUSICAL DEVELOPMENT
A Morning Circle takes places each day to welcome the children with songs and games. During the Free Play sessions children can paint, do crafts, bake, dress up, play in the store and/or children’s kitchen, or work with the Montessori materials.
We sing songs in Swiss-German, German and English and play a variety of instruments.
